The ribbon cutting ceremony (L-R) CitySavings Chairman of the Board Eugene Acevedo, CitySavings EVP Channel Management Levi Villanueva, Assistant City Administrator Marie Angelique Cruz Go, CitySavings Member of the Board Romy Ronquillo, and CitySavings President and CEO Catalino Abacan.

City Savings Bank (CitySavings) inaugurates its 100th branch in Zamboanga City last January 13 marking another significant milestone for the bank; this is the 3rd branch in Region 9 (Zamboanga Peninsula) and 15th branch in Mindanao.

Assistant City Administrator Marie Angelique Cruz Go, Culianan National High School Principal Melanie Minez, and Sangali National High School Principal Ronilo Martinez joined the CitySavings team led by Chairman of the Board Eugene Acevedo, Member of the Board Romy Ronquillo, President and Chief Executive Officer Catalino Abacan, Executive Vice President for Channel Management Levi Villanueva, Regional Operations Head Jun Camay, Regional Business Heads Florencio Solanoy and Amor Pavon, and UnionBank First Vice President for Facilities Management Mon Dimapilis.

"We want to be the partner of the teachers in this city in elevating their lives. They are the reason for our being. This is a memorable day because we have inaugurated our 100th branch in time for the bank's 50th year anniversary. To serve the teachers better, we are opening 5 more branches (one in Mindanao and four in other parts of the country)." shared Abacan.

"CitySavings serves the most important person. In the Philippines, there are about 620,000 to 630,000 teachers and about half of them banks with us. I think it speaks for itself because we believe in the passion to serve teachers." added Ronquillo.

"I may be known as the Chairman of the Board but from where I came from, I am known as the son of Ester Acevedo, a public school teacher. We are happy that we are multiplying the number of teachers that we serve and so we thought of serving other sectors of our society. Hence we launched our GSIS pension loans last December 2015 where more than half of which are also teachers. When we serve teachers, we smile before we sleep." said Acevedo.

On the other hand Cruz Go welcomed the bank to Zamboanga City and mentioned that the investment of CitySavings is a testament of the city's progress.

The branch located at RHW Building, Mayor Jaldon St., Brgy. Canelar, Zamboanga City expects to serve about 9,000 public school teachers.
